| The combination of Kaipara Moana Remediation orders and others from lifestyle blocks has resulted in about three quarters of our stock being collected or committed to planting – and it’s not even the end of June! This is great for us, and ultimately great for our harbour. It also means that if you want some plants, you’d better get in soon. So here’s the deal – if you have a property larger than 20 hectares check out the KMR website. Follow this link to read the brochure which explains the steps in getting a silt reduction plan completed, and funding of the work to follow that. This means that you can get the cost of fencing, planting and plants (from us or another accredited nursery) for half price. We have already dealt with a couple of these, and so far the system seems to be working quite efficiently. If you have a property smaller than 20 hectares you can still get plants from us but you will need to pay 75c per plant before you come to collect them (using internet banking). Regarding eligibility for plants: – The property must be within the Maungaturoto “free calling” area – The purpose is for planting alongside waterways or erosion-prone land in the Kaipara Harbour catchment, not to satisfy a resource consent condition Give me a call if you wish to follow up – 021 0829 8037.
