The 2020 planting season is now over for Otamatea HarbourCare and our attention has turned to next season’s crop. I collect the seed in the Autumn, prepare it for germination then send it off to a nursery specialising in propagation. Starting a couple of months ago, our team of volunteers has potted up a total of about 21,000 seedling flax, manuka and cabbage trees, with more to follow in December. With the new requirements for planting of waterways we don’t anticipate a problem with finding homes for these next year.
