As a result of an awesome grant from Foundation North to meet nursery costs (and a lot of hard work from our trusty nursery volunteers), the HarbourCare committee has now decided how best to help landowners who want to plant trees. So, if:

  1. The site is within the Otamatea HarbourCare area of activity (Maungaturoto free-calling area, Kaipara Harbour catchment),
  2. The planting is to be alongside a waterway or be erosion-prone land and not required to satisfy resource consent conditions,
  3. It involves a minimum of 300 plants, and
  4. The landowner collects them from the nursery…

then they will be FREE!  Preference will be given to those who have already started a planting programme with us.  The planting fee would remain at 60c regardless of who plants them – commercial or community groups.  They are not available to people who want to do some landscape planting – we’d much rather that you support your local commercial nurseries for that.

If you are interested then give Otamatea HarbourCare Society secretary Mark Vincent a call on 021 0829 8037.

Watch out for our community planting day notices coming up in a couple of months too.
