Nursery working bees are a-buzzing!

We have taken delivery of two lots of plantlets propagated from our cabbage tree and flax seed in the last two weeks, so we are flat out getting them potted up.  Last Friday we got just over 1,500 done, which was a great effort, especially when you consider that the average age of the team (excluding me) was just under 80!  I had to run at times to keep up!  And we still had time for a coffee and some cake.  We usually meet on a Thursday, but because of other commitments it will be Friday again this week.

Northland Freshwater hui

I have attached some information about this hui taking place at the NorthTec Whangarei campus in just 2 days time.  I can’t go because of a diary clash, but if you get in touch with them pronto it may still be possible for you to register.

Proudly Paparoa Showcase event 5th November

I have been contacted by the Proudly Paparoa people about putting up a display at this event in a few weeks time.  Has anyone got a spare gazebo I could borrow for the day?  Please get in touch if you have.  If you’d like to come along and keep me company for a while on the day, please do drop in.

Tindall Foundation Annual Report

The Tindall Foundation is one of the key financial backers of the Reconnecting Northland programme, and RN has been key to us getting off to such a good start as an organisation.  One of their representatives interviewed me to provide some content for their Annual Report, scars and all.  That is soon to be published.  I expect a link to the document will become available in due course.

Election results

For those of you who haven’t already heard, my bid to be elected to the Northland Regional Council was unsuccessful, but you might be interested to know that Fred Lichtwark, the man from Raglan’s Whaingaroa Harbourcare is now a member of the Waikato Regional Council.  I’m not sure whether to wish Fred or the WRC the best of luck!
